Fronius Wi-Fi Reconnect
Fronius Primo/Symo Series
1. Prepare your setup
Check that your home WiFi network is operating correctly — confirm you can connect to it using your phone or tablet.
Keep a laptop or tablet nearby, as setup is generally easier on a larger screen.
If you’ve recently changed your modem/router, internet provider, WiFi name (SSID), or password, you’ll need to reconnect the inverter using the updated details.
2. Activate the inverter’s WiFi access point
On the inverter display, press the Back or Menu button to open the Setup menu.
Go to Setup → Wi-Fi Access Point → Activate/Enable.
The inverter will now broadcast a WiFi network with a name starting with FRONIUS_240.XXXXXX.
The default WiFi password is usually 12345678, unless your inverter label lists a different one or your installer has set a custom password.
3. Connect your device to the inverter’s hotspot
Open the WiFi settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop and choose the network beginning with FRONIUS_240.
When prompted, enter 12345678 (or the password supplied for your system).
4. Access the inverter's web interface
Open the WiFi settings on your phone, tablet, or laptop and choose the network beginning with FRONIUS_240.
When prompted, enter 12345678 (or the password supplied for your system).
5. Configure your home WiFi network in the inverter
In the interface, go to Settings → Network (or Communication → Network, depending on your model).
Scroll to the bottom of the Network Settings page and select the home WiFi network you want your inverter to join.
After selecting it, click Set.
Enter your WiFi password, then press Save or Apply.
Confirm the changes when prompted (look for a tick or checkmark symbol).
6. Verify the connection
On the inverter display, navigate to Setup → Network → Status.
Check that a valid IP address is shown — if it reads 0.0.0.0, the inverter is not yet connected.
You can also confirm the connection through your Fronius Solar.web portal by checking whether live system data is updating.
Troubleshooting tips
- If signal strength is low, consider moving your WiFi router closer to the inverter or using a WiFi extender.
- Double-check that your WiFi password is correct, including capital letters and special characters.
- If the inverter still won’t connect, repeat the steps starting from Step 2.
- Persistent issues may require a firmware update or support from your installer or Fronius Support.
Fronius GEN24 and GEN24 Plus Series
1. Check your WiFi signal
Verify that your home WiFi network is working properly — test it by connecting with your phone or tablet.
Have a laptop or tablet ready, as the setup is usually easier on a larger screen.
If you have changed your internet provider, modem/router, WiFi network name (SSID), or password, you will need to reconnect your inverter using the new details.
2. Try a power cycle first
If you have not recently changed internet providers, try power cycling the inverter before adjusting the WiFi settings.
Turn off the AC supply using the main switch or the inverter circuit breaker.
Turn off the DC supply using the isolator next to the inverter.
Allow the inverter to shut down completely, then turn the DC back on, followed by the AC.
Once the inverter restarts, check for a solid blue light — this indicates a successful WiFi reconnection.
If there is no blue light, continue with the steps below to reconnect manually.
3. Activate the inverter's WiFi access point
Press and hold the middle button on the inverter until the WiFi indicator above the icon starts flashing.
This activates the inverter’s built-in WiFi hotspot.
4. Connect your phone or tablet to the inverter's hotspot
Open the WiFi settings on your device and look for a network that begins with FRONIUS_3xxxxxxx.
Tap to connect.
The default password is 12345678.
Wait until your device shows a tick or ‘connected’ status before continuing.
5. Access the inverter's web interface
Open a web browser such as Chrome or Safari.
In the address bar, type 192.168.250.181 and press Enter.
The inverter’s local interface will load, showing system bubbles and live data.
6. Log in to communication settings
Tap the menu icon (the three horizontal lines or ‘hamburger’ icon) in the top-right corner.
Select Communication.
Choose Customer as the login role.
Enter your customer password. Your installer will have provided this after installation.
7. Configure your home WiFi network
After logging in, open the menu again and select Network.
Ensure your phone is still connected to the Fronius WiFi hotspot.
In the centre section of the page, choose Wi-Fi.
Your available home WiFi networks will appear in a list.
Select your home WiFi name, enter your WiFi password, and save the settings.
Once the connection is successful, the inverter will automatically switch over to your home WiFi network.
8. Confirm connection
Wait a few moments, then check the inverter’s WiFi indicator:
- Solid blue light — connected to WiFi
- Flashing light — still attempting to connect
You can also verify the connection by checking that live data appears in your Fronius Solar.web account.
Troubleshooting tips
- If no WiFi signal is detected, consider using a WiFi extender or an Ethernet connection where available.
- Double-check your WiFi password — it is case-sensitive.
- If the inverter still does not connect, restart it and repeat the process from Step 3.
- If problems persist, contact your installer or Fronius Support for further assistance.
